Adorned with a hand-dyed indigo moon from my organic vat, this boro scarf is a very wise, very old soul indeed. So many elements involved in this piece: the foundation is a taupe swathe of vintage boro, replete with its original stitching and mended patches. Atop that are additional pieces of vintage Japanese textile to mend worn areas that were present, these too are comprised of mended patches — generous pieces of shima, and katazome — with original stitching. We arrive at layer upon layer of vintage Japanese mended textile (a.k.a. ‘boro’), so it is indeed authentic, and not some newly forged patchwork composition that so many modern pieces are masquerading as boro. For those of you who want to keep it real, this is the scarf for you. Completely hand stitched. Made of authentic Japanese vintage boro fabric. Hand-dyed indigo moon. 73” L x 13.5” W.
