2024 exhibition, ‘Sterling & Steel’

The Baldwin AVenue Gallery, Sierra Madre, CAlifornia

unveiling a new collection of original work, showcasing sterling and steel fabrication, as well as eroded enameled surfaces.

Up until this point, I strictly used sterling silver in my fabrication. The incorporation of steel and an exploration of eroded enameled surfaces brought me full circle in my work as an artist, as I make heavy use of rust dying in my textile work.

This was a happy marriage of many worlds, which gave a much more evolved shape to my aesthetic as a jewelry artist. I had longed to find a way to incorporate rust in my work, as it has been a deep love of mine for a decade now. i am drawn to work that illustrates decay as a metaphor not only for the natural progression of life, but as a reminder to celebrate it in all its stages.

All of my work so far has been one of a kind, but within this collection I developed some shapes that I will continue to make over and over again. It was the collection that anchored me to my aesthetic in a way that will allow me to explore resonant concepts much more fully. I think that every artist is, in a way, finding their way home through their work, and when epiphanic elements emerge, it allows for deeper access to the self where one can achieve the goal of such a returning through an absolute exploration of them.
