It's not a turtle
It's not a turtle
It’s awesome, is what it is (don’t get me wrong, I love turtles).
I hand-forged this oval before enameling and rusting its sloping form. This was the first enameled and rusted form that I made for my new collection. For those of you who have been following me since the start, you know that I have a huge crush on rust. I love it. My earlier work consisted of rust on textile. I have been kicking around the idea of incorporating rust into my jewelry for a while now, and here we are.
Everything here is handmade, including the sterling silver chain. The penant hangs loosely on its hook and the hook reaches up to grab its ring, so the whole piece is in constant flux, ebbing and flowing as you shift and move. Elegant, and bad ass all at once. She will do your jewelry collection proud.
Special care instructions:
This lovely is made of steel and enamel. Please understand that enamel is glass, and just as a wine glass would shatter if you hurled it to the floor, likely will this piece if you treat her badly. So don’t treat her badly. While not nearly as fragile as a wine glass, it warrants understanding the elements of her composition. Please don’t wear in the shower, the hot tub, the swimming pool nor in a thunderstorm—I mean, if she rusts a little more, that wouldn’t be such a bad thing, though her components are sealed to protect against the elements—anyway, love her madly, and she will offer a lifetime of willing service to you..
