Handmade Rust Dyed Dress
Handmade Rust Dyed Dress
After ages of patterns, this is one of the first pieces I made in real fabric for the line. It wasn’t long after I finished the pattern making bit that I stitched up a handful of dresses, kept them all under the guise of ‘samples’, and forever now I have been wearing them on the regular. In fact, not many of my other clothes ever see the light of day since my little clutch of dresses came into my life. They are simple, comfortable and sophisticated. I’ve worn them to really nice restaurants and back yard barbecues alike. The shape is especially forgiving, they are easy to care for and I hope one of these will find its way to your closet too (I will be making more of these, FYI). The seams are fine finished, the hem remains raw, made of 2 types of linen, the more raw of the two which I hand dyed with rust. Both linens are organic. A note on rust dyed things: All of the rust dyed pieces that I make are perfectly safe. The rust is permanent, will not rub off on anything, and it is NOT toxic. Think of it as a natural pigment, because that’s really all it is.
Raw hem.Fine-finished seams. 35.5” long x 19” across the chest. Due to its relaxed fit, will happily fit a S-M gal.
